St. Jude Dream Home Update
This years St. Jude Dream Home is starting to look like a home! It is already being painting on the inside and the brown coat for stucco is scheduled to be applied soon as well. The mild Colorado winter has allowed us to make great progress on the Dream Home.
With a little over a month of construction left on the home, we are gearing up for ticket sales. Tickets are $100 and there is a limited number available. All proceeds go directly to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Covington Homes and its trade partners have broken ground for the 2020 Dream Home to benefit the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This is the fifth Dream Home Covington Homes has built in Southern Colorado. Covington Homes continues to build the Colorado Springs St Jude Dream Home at zero cost. This means that all of the proceeds from the ticket sales of the Dream Home go directly to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

St. Jude Children’s Hospital patient Kaylee was 10 years old when she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, or a cancerous tumor on the cerebellum portion of her brain. Kaylee described how doctors explained her diagnosis using Play-Doh. “I didn’t really understand what cancer meant… but I know I was devastated.”

The St Jude Dream Home in Colorado Springs truly has moved our team and our community to give back, to give selflessly, to give joyfully, and to give to help a greater cause. Each year, Covington Homes and their trade partners donate all of the materials and labor to build a beautiful home for a giveaway benefitting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Tickets for the drawing are still available. Covington Homes and St. Jude ALSAC, together with Covington’s trade partners and homeowners, have raised over $1.7 million for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the past two years, working towards a goal of raising more than $2.6 million overall in the first three years of the Dream Home campaign.

The Covington Homes Team, HBA Cares, our Covington Homeowners, the Oakwood Spirit team, and Many other wonderful friends and volunteers came out this Saturday to help with the Landscaping! The team installed it in only 3 hours! That’s a new record! Next is the Floor Signing coming up this Friday the 4th and then the Grand opening on Saturday the 5th! YAY!! We can’t wait for Colorado Springs to see this wonderful home!

With expert help from K-Rand Painting our team put the finishing touches on the Dream Home, making it look flawless! Team Covington was rocked it at this year’s Team Plumbing Day for the St. Jude Dream Home! With guidance and help from Precision Plumbing, we installed all of the beautiful Brizo Faucets and bath hardware! And don’t forget the toilets and sinks! We assembled and installed those too! 2017 St. Jude Dream Home Groundbreaking
On November 18th we officially broke ground on the 2017 St. Jude Dream Home!! We had our trade partners on site to help kick off another great start of the Dream Home! Without the commitment and dedication from our awesome trade partners, we wouldn’t be able to participate in the great cause. We are so grateful for them and the opportunity to a Dream Home builder for the second year in a row.
Last year’s Dream Home was a fantastic success. We were able to raise OVER $812,000 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This year we plan on exceeding that amount and make it an even bigger success! We are SO excited to announce that we are the St. Jude Dream Home Builder for Southern Colorado again!!! Being part of the Dream Home has been such an incredible experience and we are so thankful that we have been selected again. We also want to thank our awesome trade partners and donors that made this possible and to everyone that purchased a ticket for the last one. We were able to raise OVER $800,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!
The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of their founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.
Unlike any other hospital, the majority of St. Jude funding comes from individual contributions. And thanks to generous donors, families never receive a bill from St. Jude. Founder and entertainer Danny Thomas opened the doors to St. Jude in 1962 with the dream that “no child should die in the dawn of life.”

2016 Colorado Springs St. Jude Dream Home Winner!
The Colorado Springs 2016 St. Jude Dream Home has come to an end – and it couldn’t have ended any better. On June 10th, KKTV11 drew the winner live on television! The winner, Trina Atencio, of Pueblo, Colorado was overjoyed at the sight of her new home.
Trina recently married, Leo, whose daughter was treated at St. Jude almost 30 years ago and is now cancer free. Every year they buy a ticket to the St. Jude Dream Home because of that. They hadn’t even seen the house prior to winning it. We met up with them at the Dream Home on June 10th to show them their new home! It was such a great night filled with laughter, tears of happiness, and love.
Don Ward from KKTV11 sat down with Trina and Leo after winning to talk about it. In addition to the home, many other great prizes were given out that night.

This year for the St. Jude Dream Home we have created a fun game –The Hidden Judy’s — for the guests to play while walking around the Dream Home! The Hidden Judy’s game is similar to the Hidden Mickey’s at Disneyland. Throughout Disneyland there are hidden Mickey’s all over the place. We recreated this at the Dream Home, only with St. Jude Logo’s.
We hid 38 decorative logos throughout the home for guests to find. If they found all 38 of them, they were entered into a drawing for a new tablet! Second and third place prizes include a designer ceiling fan courtesy of
The game has been a huge hit with guests!! Most of the guests have been able to find all 38 of the Judy’s! They were placed all around the house as decorations. The advertisements, informational, and sponsor pieces were not part of the game, which added an extra challenge of them trying to find all of them.

Last week tickets went on sale for the St. Jude Dream Home. We have been so lucky to have so many great people help get the word out and have a successful first week of ticket sales! The Flying Horse Magazine generously donated space in their magazine for information about the St. Jude Dream Home. Check out the great issue! It has information about the fantastic Flying Horse community as well as some delicious recipes in it!

AMAZING young woman! Sarah has raised a generous amount of money to donate to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital! Sarah wanted to raise funds to give back to our local community and help children in need. And she wanted to raise funds that would go directly to a good cause to help children. Sarah also wanted to help children in our Community of Colorado Springs.
When her father told her about the St Jude Dream Home that we are building (Covington Homes), she decided to look into St Jude Children’s Research Hospital as the recipient of the funds she was setting out to raise. She did the research and found that St Jude Children’s Research Hospital not only cures children with the rarest forms of cancer, sickle cell, malaria, and bird flu- BUT St Jude Children’s Research Hospital shares ALL of their Life-Saving research with our local hospitals, Children’s Hospitals, and hospitals everywhere!! Tens of thousands of children (and adults too) are begin cured EVERY DAY because of ST Jude’s Research.
She also discovered that one of our local families here in Colorado Springs has a child who is being treated at St Jude’s for a rare form of cancer. And this young child is winning the battle against childhood cancer because of St Jude!!
Sarah then decided to donate her hard earned allowance, extra money she earned mowing the lawn and picking up dog poop, and some of her savings to St Jude. She took it a step further and decided to have a fundraiser with her friends at school and family. She created flyers and distributed them to her friends and people in her neighborhood to get the word out. WE are proud to say that Sarah was able to successfully raise funds for the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital through a cookie bake! How FANTASTIC!!

Covington Homes is honored to announce that we are officially the St Jude Dream Home Builder in Colorado Springs / Southern Colorado!
On November 13th, Covington Homes will break ground on the 3rd annual St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway house. The home is to be raffled for the benefit of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The home is located across from the Covington Homes model home complex located at 7015 Jagged Rock Circle in Villages Filing 2 Banning Lewis Ranch. Representatives of Covington Homes, KKTV 11 News, Banning Lewis Ranch, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Y96.9, The Gazette, national sponsors Brizo®, Shaw Floors, and Trane as well as all Covington Homes trade partners will be in attendance for the momentous occasion.
